The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve the minutes from November 19, 2023. Passes.
Shelter Maintenance
• Advantage Appliance checked the leaky washing machine and determined that the
problem is not with the washer but with clogged pipes. Francesca will contact a plumber
to clear the pipes, and possibly put in a filter to prevent the problem.
• The guillotine pull on kennel # 10 has been repaired, and Francesca will fix the same
problem on kennel # 7.
• Volunteer Tammy Binette reported that the street lights on the access road where the
dogs are walked are not all on, and it is very dark when walking dogs at night. Francesca
will contact the town about providing better lighting.
Miscellaneous
Volunteer Dave Olson introduced the topic of dog fostering for discussion. He also
suggested having a web or Facebook page that non -shift captains could log into to see
shelter updates and relevant information, Volunteer Val Cabral offered her help in
creating the site. Carol and Ana suggested considering guidelines for postings on the site.

A.C.O . Report
• Tiramisu's next court date is February 22', to make a final decision as to whether the owner
will get Tiramisu back or if Tiramisu will become a shelter dog.
• Francesca is looking for weekday morning help with the dogs. Volunteer Tammy Binette
offered occasional help. A notice requesting dog volunteer help has been posted on the
shelter website.
• Francesca asked for volunteer help to take cats to vet visits. She can continue to do most
intake exam and spay/neuter visits, but she would like help when cats require multiple visits.
Several volunteers offered to help. Vet appointments will be posted or emailed to those
volunteers so that they can sign up to transport.
• Ty, a pit mix who had to be removed from his owner, will officially become a shelter dog on
Saturday.
