The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve the minutes from October 19, 2023. Passes.
Miscellaneous
Francesca suggested a training class for new volunteers, and a video made from the class. All
volunteers would be required to attend, the class or watch the video.
Veterinary
Stacy Howard will transport Grahm to Franklin for neutering,
A.C.G. Report
• An 8 year old Mansfield cat, Keeko, was surrendered to the shelter today.
• There are two new surrendered dogs at the shelter. Slade is a Blue Tick Coon Hound and
Stuckey is a Great Pyrenees mix.
• Tiramasu's court date is December 19a'.
Hoarding Situation:
• The shelter is dealing with a hoarding situation in Mansfield, where a house contains 40 or
more cats. Several cats and kittens have been brought to the shelter, including pregnant
moms. Some male cats are expected to come in soon. Francesca and a detective have visited
the home, but only Francesca was permitted inside. Francesca, Foxboro A.C.O. Kaycee
Bailey, and volunteer Stacy Howard are working with the family to try to get more of the
cats to the shelter.
• Cats from the hoarding situation are sick with an upper respiratory infection, possibly
calcivirus. Because calcivirus is highly contagious to other cats, the incoming hoarded cats
will have to be isolated.
Kaycee suggested looking to other resources, such as M.S.P.C.A. or Angell, for help with
spay/neuter vouchers.

• Volunteers suggested contacting other local shelter to see if they are able to receive some of
the cats.
• Sharon recommended that only the adult cats from the hoarding situation need to be combo
tested.
