• Interview Candidate for Municipal Building Committee (MBC) —Robert Saquet
Ms. Doherty stated that Mr. Saquet will be interviewed for a term that will begin on January 1st. Ms.
Doherty then introduced Mr. Annino the current Chair of the MBC and she asked him to give a summary
of what the Municipal Building Committee is responsible for. He stated that it is a great Committee that is
responsible for all the building projects in Town and that they are currently working on the design phase
of the new senior center. He added that the Committee meets once a month and during construction
every couple weeks. He stated that Mike Ahern is the Owners Project Manager and helps with some of
the burden. Mr. Saquet commented that the most important phase of a project is the planning because if
the building is wrong size, shape or location it can be a waste of money. Mr. Annino added that the
Committee is meeting with staff to make sure that all the bases are covered.
Ms. Doherty then asked Mr. Saquet to share his education and work experience. He stated that he
graduated with a degree in Art with a special interest in architecture. He stated that his first building
project was the first Town Hall here in Mansfield. He stated that they designed Town Hall when the
population was 8,000. He then reviewed the time he was previously on the MBC and most of his career
had been in the furniture industry.
Mr. Roche asked him how he has been involved in the community. Mr. Saquet stated that he shows up to
Town Meeting once a year. He then explained how Mansfield was probably one of the first Towns to have
a permanent Building Committee that he advocated for when he was on the Charter Commission so that
the knowledge would stay with the committee and not have a new committee created for each building
project. He also stated that he was Town Moderator for a "few" years.
Ms. Doherty asked him what interested him in coming back to the MBC. Mr. Saquet stated that he likes to
build things and he stated that he understands construction contacts, bid documents and is familiar with
some of the new technology in construction.
Ms. Doherty then asked him the ethics questions and he responded that he does what is best for all
concerned. Ms. Doherty asked if he had any questions and Mr. Saquet asked what night the committee
meets on. Mr. Annino responded that it varies but generally it is Monday or Tuesday nights.
• Interview Candidate for Board of Registrar of Voters —Mark Corsillo
Ms. Doherty then invited Mr. Corsillo and Ms. Marianne Staples, Town Clerk to come forward and
introduced them, She then asked Ms. Staples to tell everyone about the Board of Registrar of Voters and
she provided a summary. She stated that the Town Clerk is on the Board because of her position. The
Board is made up of four people and has to be equally represented by the two major political parties and
she is registered as an independent and can be the Democrat or Repulican on the Committee based on
what party the other members of the Board are. She then stated that part of the Boards duties includes
certifying petition signatures for the ballot questions for the next Election, holding a hearing if someone
challenges the residency of a voter, and recount ballots if a candidate asks for a recall.
Ms. Doherty then asked Mr. Corsillo about his background and work experience. Mr. Corsillo responded
that he went to Northeastern and that he currently works in IT and been working at the elections since
2020. He stated that Ms. Staples has taught him a lot and he been involved with the poll pads and getting
things set up. He stated that because of COVID in 2020 he thought it was helpful to come forward to work
elections because he has fewer health risks than those that typically work elections.
Mr. Roche asked how he has been involved in Town. Mr. Corsillo stated that he is on the Democratic
Town Committee, ran for Select Board and is currently on the Planning Board.
Mr. Roche asked him if he had any other strong skills that make him a strong candidate and he responded
nothing else that has not already been mentioned.
Mr. Roche then asked him the conflict of interest question and Mr. Corsillo responded that the does not
think there are any conflicts, but would seek the advice of Town Clerk and Town Counsel as needed.
Mr. Roche then asked if Ms. Staples had any questions and she stated that she had a comment. She
commented that Mr. Corsillo is innovative and is there when she needs him and as a member of the
Board of Registrar it is very helpful to have someone readily available.
