Call to Order: The Downtown Committee was called to order at 5:33PM by Chair, Mr. Kevin Dumas. 2. Acceptance of Minutes from June 6, 2023: Motion: To adopt the meeting minutes of June 6, 2023. Passes 5:0 (Pantos/Rhein) 3. Traffic Box Wrapping Update: Ms. Varricchione stated that the DePillo Square wrap would be installed on 8/22 depending on the weather. She then said she would update the Downtown Committee once it's been wrapped. 4. Harry B. Chase Place Update: Mr. Dumas explained that due to lead time needed on the canopy structure, it would not be installed until Spring of 2024. It was originally scheduled for January, 2024. He then added that Briggs Nursery was able to add two London Plain trees to the area and it looked nice. Mr. Reinke mentioned the gum tree behind Jimmy's Pub now has a double trunk and will need to be excavated and moved to another location. If they keep it there and remove one of the trunks, then the tree could die. Mr. Pantos, the owner of Jimmy's Pub said it was ok to move it. Mr. Dumas mentioned a Maple tree that was eaten up by bugs but that the tree was able to regenerate it's leaves. Mr. Reinke mentioned that some of the trees at Fulton's Pond have caterpillars. Mr. Dumas asked Mr. Reinke to look into spraying the trees to get rid of them. Mr. Reinke then mentioned the new retaining wall at Fulton's Pond and that it looks beautiful. Mr. Rhein mentioned that he's seen positive comments regarding the structure on Social Media. Mr, Rhein asked when the Harry B. Chase canopy panels would be installed and Mr. Dumas mentioned that Mr. Ahern said they would be put up the same time as the build of the canopy. S. Fulton's Pond Summer Event: August 23rd Mr. Dumas stated that he's met with the Police, Park and Recreation, Fire and DPW regarding the 8/23 Fulton's Pond event and they are ready. He said it would be manageable and simple. Mr. Dumas gave an update on what the event would include: Food Trucks, Music from the Black Velvet Band and Paddleboat Rides. Ms. Varricchione told the Committee the food truck that would be coming: Trolley Dogs, Palagis Ice Cream Truck and The Burrito Bowl. Mr. Reinke then mentioned that the DPW would be there early to set up picnic tables in addition to the rest of the set up. Mr. Cooney asked what movie was playing and Mr. McDermott mentioned it was a family friendly movie called DC League of Super -Pets. Mr. Rhein said it might be nice to add the name of the movie on the Park and Recreation board so residents know what is showing that night. He then said that Mr. Pantos should also invite residents over to Jimmy's Pub after this event. 6. Fall Festival: September 30`h Mr. Dumas stated that they are working on the budget for this event closely as the celebration fund for this event is also being use for the 8/23 Fulton's Pond Summer event.
