Schools benefit from longer contracts for such items as the lifespan of chromebooks. Steve asked if these extended agreements are in perpetuity or do we need to update every year. Ed noted that this covers specific contract lengths only. Motion to support the technology warrant article by Jenifer Sellon / Vivian Webster Motion Carries 4-0 Consideration fSuperintendent Goals for 2023-24: This is the second reading of Teresa Murphy's goals. She took feedback from the last meeting and reworked the goals into measurable and easy to identify tasks that do not rely on outside departments of which she has no control. Questions/Answers: Vivian Webster asked for clarification on items that are checked; are these the specific goals? No these are tasks that have already been completed this school year. Jen Sellon likes the revisions. Steve Schoonveld likes the changes and the new level of detail which will help school committee identify their goals. Motion to approve Superintendent Goals for 2023-24 by Jenifer Sellon / Vivian Webster Motion Carries 4-0 Review of FY25 Budget Planning Calendar: This internal timeline was created to support the deadlines set by the Town of Mansfield in creating next year's budget. Discussion was held on various items for clarity. Jenn Walsh noted that it streamlines the process and helps keep us on track. Ed Donoghue noted that there will be a new Assistant Town Manager on January 2^d. Review of Internal Funds Control Manual: This manual was updated recently to reflect changes in procurement laws. Every few years we are required to review and update this manual. Steve asked for clarification on the changes. Ed noted that the dollar amount limits were increased from $50,000 to $100,000. Other items are highlighted in yellow. Update on Policies recently reviewed /no changes required: DBD Budget Deadlines and Schedules was reviewed with no updates needed. Sellon Webster Discussion on BEDH: Steve Schoonveld noted the following- nothing in the policy addresses online attendees; the word affiliation doesn't seem to be required; the disclaimer at the end seems unnecessary; the policy should address why school committee cannot respond to public speak. Additionally, he asked how the time allocation was determined and if the chair can expand public speak or defer it to a point in the agenda where applicable. Vivian Webster agreed with Steve that there should be multiple occurrences of public speak at each meeting (at the beginning and the end.) Jenn felt that some of these questions would be addressed in procedures rather than policy. After further general discussion, Teresa offered to bring some of the questions to our attorney. Policy will be revisited next meeting. Modifications made to policies as presented: DA- Combine paragraphs 3 and 4. DB- Combine paragraphs 8 and 9 DBD- Modify paragraph 3 as follows all sources of district revenue... DJ- Modify 4ch bullet point to more broadly represent underrepresented groups DJE- Dollar amounts increased from $50,000 to $100,000 DKC- Clarification of paragraph 2 by removing repetitive language KDD -Modify paragraph 2 to remove particular programs, plans or problems.
