It has since been resolved and the Town of Mansfield took over the district in 1920 and now the closing will be in pushed to the next couple weeks. She then asked how Mansfield was chosen to be a place to house migrant families and will the Town be reimbursed for any of the expenses. She also asked if there would be a loss of hotel and room taxes because the state is tax exempt. Mr. Dumas responded that there will be a loss of money from hotel tax because the state is exempt and he believed that any hotel who already has a contract with the state for homeless families was chosen. He stated that homeless families are placed on a very small level at many hotels across the state. He also responded that he was unsure of any reimbursement and commented that it has been difficult at the state level to coordinate and there was not a lot of thought that went into choosing hotels. Mr. Dumas stated he has spoken with members of the state delegation and asked that there be a better coordination and he is aware that there will be some educational dollars reimbursed for the education piece. Ms. Doherty then asked about the Plymouth Street fields and if there was a lease agreement like the Otis Street fields. Ms. Doherty then commented that two of the areas in Memorial Park that are tough to deal with is the Hutchinson and the lower practice field because the drainage is a problem and the kids are playing in water up to their calves. She stated that the area was once the jewel of the community and it needs to be redone. Mr. Roche stated that he is glad to hear that there is a task force and that there is communication with the State delegation members. He then asked who was going to be part of the Memorial Park Master Plan meetings and Mr. Dumas responded that he needs to look back and speak with Mr. Ahern to see what was established, Mr. Dumas further commented that community input is also key to the planning process and that there are certain environmental challenges and soil conditions with the site.
