Board of Trustees Meeting - January 11, 2023
Attendance: Nancy Breef-Pilz, Jean.Mallon, Deborah Gordy, Kimberly Usselman,
Leonard Epstein and Acting Director Whitney Brown. The meeting was called to order at 5:43 PM.
Secretary's renort. The report for December 14, 2022 was reviewed and unanimously
approved with minor corrections.
Treasurer's report. The report for December, 2022 was reviewed and unanimously
approved. Nancy initiated a discussion of certain aspects of the library's trustee account, primarily
to clarify appropriate expenditures, noting that the primary use of the funds is for programs, with
small amounts used for staff members in certain circumstances, in this case recognition of Kim's
bereavement over the death of her daughter. Debbie moved to appropriate $200 for the acquisition
of books to be chosen by Kim in memory of her daughter, with recognition bookplates. The motion
was seconded and approved, with Kimberly Usselman abstaining.
Correspondence. None.
Librarians reports. The librarians' reports were reviewed and highlights discussed.
Debbie complimented Whitney on her reports while functioning as Acting Director during
Catherine's medical leave.
OLD BUSINESS
Strategic plan update. The library has had 600 responses to the recent survey. Barbara
Alevras is working on synthesizing the responses in preparation for the planned focus group
meetings which will commence on February 6. The groups will be parents and guardians, seniors,
teens, and community leaders. After those meetings Barbara will analyze the focus group data and
work with Catherine on establishing goals and action items. o
