Update on current Facilities Projects
• Vacation week and other recent projects: A number of projects occurred over the February
vacation week including: clean all hallways, baseboards, high school first floor windows, A
cafeteria windows, bathrooms were power washed and scrubbed. All kitchens are cleaned,
changed lightbulbs, new auditorium furniture, cleaned all staircases at Robinson and 1J. Libraries
were vacuumed and dusted. Cleaned all handrails. Roland Green —all floors, hallways,
bathrooms, etc. Two dead trees removed from Roland Green. All grease traps were cleaned and
inspected (do this twice per year). Eye wash stations are inspected (also twice per year).
Installed the wiring for the new emergency buttons. Repairs made to PA systems at Robinson, JJ
and QMS. Inspected and minor repairs to indoor bleachers at QMS. All pumps and hoods were
inspected.
• Emergency buttons. Will be installing emergency buttons that will automatically alert police in
an emergency situation. Choosing strategic locations with consultation from police department.
Will also be able to tie this to the camera system. Police will get a view to the area. Will need to
do some tech work but they should be up and running soon. Also working on something similar
for Roland Green, but without the camera system. Goal is to have an April roll -out.
MSBA project:
High school boiler project. in the process of working on the boiler replacement at the high
school. Have a contract signed with the contractor. Contractor then does submittals for
piping/equipment, etc. Project is moving smoothly. Expect to start some of the demolition as
early as May. Should be completed over the summer.
• QMS boiler project. We are at the design phase now, working with the architect. Once that
phase is completed, we will review. Then we will put together construction and bid documents.
That will be a summer 2024 project. A bit more complicated of a project. This will be more
expensive than the high school (equipment and labor).
• Can't submit anything for MSBA as the program has been suspended for this year.
Staffing:
• Anew custodian is starting in a few weeks.
• There is one opening. Have had more interest recently. In good shape right now.
