Discussion was held on school safety. In light of the recent events in Florida, Teresa has
received many calls from parents asking about school safety and offering their thoughts on
how we should move forward. We have also received numerous calls from vendors offering
security services. Ron Sellon gave a refresher to the school committee of the detailed research
and planning that has occurred over the last few years and continues to occur on a regular
basis. The district will move forward, building on what we already have in place. The police
department, school department and town work very closely together and take student safety
very seriously. With that in mind, it is not always possible to share all of the security
precautions and plans with the general public.
Kiera O'Neil called for a motion to leave executive session and to return to open meeting.
