Executive Session Minutes for Tuesday, December 11, 2018

The open meeting session was opened and called to order by Kiera O'Neil at 6:34 p.m.

Motion to enter Executive Session: Kiera O'Neil asked for a motion to enter into Executive Session
pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 30A, Section 21 for the Following Purpose: Under Exception No. 3. To
discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a
detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the chair so declares.

Teresa Murphy and Ed Donoghue reviewed progress made to date with custodian
negotiations. Both sides have brought forward proposals and have discussed options. Some
items of note are: rate incrTAse, longevity, shift differentials, snow removal, working overtime
on a sick or vacation day. eresa asked for guidance from school committee and they
ll proposed no higher than 2 -2 -2 for 3 year increases.
Teresa briefly mentioned that there is concern from the paraprofessional union regarding the
pay scale /,step format. For example does an employee's salary increase at that end of the 4th
year or after the 51h year. The wording is vague. Teresa did note a sentence added in the last
contract that may have been added for clarity though we do not know the history. "An
employee will move to the next step after completion of the number of years of service
specified at each step." Further discussions with attorneys will take place.
Kiera O'Neil called for a motion to leave executive session not to return to open meeting.
