Motion to enter into executive session by Lynn Cavicchi / Linda Fernando Roll Call Vote: Kiera O'Neil Yes Lynn Cavicchi Yes Lauren Scher Yes Linda Fernando Yes Superintendent Murphy introduced a proposed MOU for the teachers' union. It will offer an early retirement incentive for this year only to 1) help with budget concerns and 2) allow teachers to retire who may not want to work pending the return to school options in the fall. Superintendent Murphy provided an update on teacher negotiations which are stalled. There is no movement on the use of X2; salary and course reimbursements. The pandemic, economic state and remote learning has made it difficult to come to terms on the final contract. Negotiations will require a balance of appropriately compensating teachers while being cognizant of the poor economic conditions we face. Next meeting is June 25th. Superintendent Murphy requested a discussion on raises for non -union personnel who worked throughout the pandemic. It was noted that in some districts there have been furloughs and/or no increases. The committee recommended that increases be deferred until October. Kiera O'Neil called for a motion to leave executive session not to return to open meeting.
