Mansfield School Committee Meeting
Executive Session Minutes for Tuesday, March 16, 2021

The open meeting session was opened and called to order by Kiera O'Neil at 5:35 p.m.
Members Present: Administration Present:
Kiera O'Neil, Chair Teresa Murphy, Superintendent of Schools
Lynn Cavicchi, Vice Chair Michael Connolly, Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Linda Fernando Edward Donoghue, Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Members Absent: None
Under Exception No. 3: To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if
an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the
public body and the chair so declares.
Superintendent reviewed the status of MEA impact bargaining related to our students
returning to school 5 days per week.
On Friday, March 12th negotiations targeted the following items:
Students in quarantine and how lessons will be provided
Spacing must be at least 3 feet (6 feet between staff and students)
Social distancing: Is time still a determining factor (was 15 minutes or more)
Concern that teachers may be held responsible by parents if students become ill
Lunchroom logistics
Vaccines: can teachers get coverage if they need to leave for a vaccine?
Increases signage
Afterschool opportunities
Pool testing: MEA is not in support
Custodian bargaining will start next week. We are unclear on what they are expecting.
