Some work needs to be done but the district feels like we are in good shape. Assistant Superintendent Connolly toured the schools today (first day back for staff.) Superintendent Murphy had offered a remote day for staff but there were many staff members that did come in to start setting up their rooms. Several professional development training sessions were held. Chair O'Neil asked what the outstanding issues were with negotiations. Ms. Murphy identified the following: Schedules (remote and hybrid); members with insufficient internet or no internet would like hotspots; mask use; live streaming, bathroom cleaning frequency; water testing (it has been an issue in other districts since water remained stagnant for a long time); communications out to parents on student safety protocols; clear identification of hybrid model; Payment to MEA members who get ill do to covid (request not to use sick time). Kiera asked if we had specific guidance for allowing staff members in the building once out for illness or quarantine. Superintendent will send to school committee. Kiera O'Neil called for a motion to leave executive session and to return to open meeting.
