The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Motion: To approve the minutes from November 17, 2022. Passes.
Procedures
Motion: To nominate Carol Kosel for Chairperson. Passes
Motion: To nominate Sharon Baker for Vice -Chair. Passes
Dogs
• Jeff will inquire if Kaycee Bailey wants to follow-up on an applicant for Foxboro dog
Lola. The applicant is a dog trainer, and was referred by one of the shelter volunteers.
• Kita was spayed today, and masses were biopsied.
• The incarcerated owner of two dogs currently at the shelter, Testa and Damn, was
extradited to R.I. Tesla belongs to the man's wife, and will be returned to her. Damu is
the man's dog, and may be put up for adoption.
The advisability of combining rabies and distemper vaccines into one injection was
discussed. Erika forwarded a web link with information to Jeff.
Maintenance
Carol would like to get an estimate for crushed stone for the "mud pit" in the dog play
area.

Volunteers
• Carol suggested that only one update per shift should be sent, not separate updates for
dogs and cats. She also requested that shift captains write update information in the
reception log. Carol will send an email to shift captains with these requests.
• Jeff has mentioned in the past that volunteers should be familiar with the basics of caring
for both dogs and cats, so that a cat shift captain can feed and clean on the dog side, and a
dog captain can feed and clean litter boxes on the cat side. Carol will include that
requirement, too, in her email to shift captains.
