Fundraisina
Fundraising Letter - No new discussion.
At the October meeting, the committee discussed sending out the annual fundraising letter earlier in 2023. The
2022 letter was sent out later than usual (closer to the April Spring Clean -Up event) and donation amounts
were less than KMB received in prior years. The committee will need to start working on letter updates.
Follow-up action item from October meeting: The donation database needs to be updated to reflect new
businesses in town and those that have left/closed. A list of the new businesses may be may be available
through the Town Clerk's office. There is also a list of volunteers and potential donors that were collected
during Family Fun Night that need to be updated in the database. Kelly Kemp volunteered to work with Neil
Rhein to get the db updates completed.
Nip Stipend Program Monies
Follow-up action item from October meeting: Jeff Ward continues follow-up on Nip Stipend Program
participants and payments. He will reach out to Julie Jones and Sally Fehervari, sponsors of the original
proposed TM warrant, to glean more information on the approved process and names of business owners who
agreed to participate in the stipend program.
Background of Nip Stipend Program - Local Mansfield liquor store owners proposed and agreed to the option
of paying KMB and the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) organizations a $100monthlystipend (to be
split evenly between organizations) that can be used for cleanup and for educational purposes that will help to
promote proper disposal of nip bottles. Payments were projected to begin 1 July 2022. KMB received
payments from several of the liquor store establishments (see past months KMB minutes for monthly
donations to date), but believe there are several stores who have not made agreed upon payments.

Great Mansfield Clean-UDs 2022- 2023
Annual Fall Clean -Up of 2022 - This event was held from November 1-13. Reports indicated that there were
lower amounts of trash collected than in the past. Minimal help was required by Mansfield DPW for trash
pick-up as most of the event volunteers disposed of trash on their own. Mike Healey will pick up remaining
supplies after the Thanksgiving holiday. -
Annual Spring Clean -Up for 2023 — This event will be held on 29 April 2023. The event has traditionally
been held on the last Saturday of April each year.
Since the weather has been warming sooner in spring, the committee considered holding the event a week
sooner in 2023 and Earth Day is to be celebrated on Saturday, 22 April 2023. After discussion of possible
conflicting town and other organizational events being held on Earth Day, the KMB committee voted on the 29
April date. Motion was presented by Mike Healey and seconded by Kelly Kemp. Motion and date approved
by all committee members in attendance.
Annual Fall Clean -Up for 2023 - This event will be held from November 1-12. Motion for dates was
presented and approved by all committee members in attendance. Jeff Ward will inform Town Hall on the ;
selected dates for posting both of the 2023 Clean -Up events on the town's calendar and website.

Flower Barrel Proeram
Most of the flower barrels were picked up by Mansfield DPW and some by Mike Healey. Two barrels were
left at the Cat Man Cafd as they were close to the building. They were picked up by DPW after Mike Healey's
follow-up.
Pat Colbert will share the flower barrel spreadsheet that indicates monies collected in 2022 as well as the list of
all flower barrel locations and program participants. Mike McCarthy will figure out approximate cost per
barrel including seasonal maintenance.
Painted Barrels
Kelly Kemp suggested bringing back the Painted Barrel event that was held several years ago at the old DPW
facility. This event idea was very well received and will be discussed with Kevin Dumas and Josh Reinke.
At the October meeting, Pat Colbert indicated that there is currently one barrel being painted by a local artist.
We can use 5-10 new barrels for painting and replacement of some of the older barrels in and around
downtown, the school complex and sports fields.
Notes for Follow-up: There is a painted barrel near Gilbert Street that is over -flowing and in disrepair that
should be emptied by DPW and likely replaced.
Josh Reinke needs to be contacted to inquire about barrel availability
Martha O'Connell reached out to Derek Harding at Mansfield HS Art Department to ask if students would like
to paint a few barrels over the winter session. No response to date.
Adopt -a -Knot rroeram
Ana Newell sent an email to Fine Landscaping regarding possible adoption of Mary Fontes' AaS garden
located in West Mansfield near Old Elm Street with no response as of this date. If Fine Landscaping cannot
adopt, Ana will seek another AaS caretaker.
Ana reached out to West Mansfield resident, Todd Richardson, regarding the adoption of the new West
Mansfield Sign area at Otis Street with no response as of this date.
Kathy Harney from Mansfield Shredding indicated to committee members that she would like to discuss the
possibility of MansfieldShredding and disabled adults adopting the AaS garden area next to Happy Hollow on
North Main Street. The site frequently has trash in the garden around the bench and this may be an` opportunity
to utilize the individuals who work at the Bottle Redemption Center and Mansfield Shredding to help keep that
site well maintained
r
Notes for Follow-up: Ana is on the Board of Mansfield Shredding and will contact Kathy Harney to discuss
adoption opportunities at the N Main location.
At the October meeting, Mr. Rhein mentioned that the trees at the library AaS site need pruning. That site is
maintained by Presentato Landscaping and the pruning may not be done until spring.
The committee discussed the program link to the town's website which led to a more in-depth discussion
regarding the new Town of Mansfield website. KMB's link is not working and committee members were
encouraged to go on the website and recommend changes so Jeff Ward can provide feedback to the town on
necessary changes.
"We Noticed"
Jeff Ward coordinated the recognition for the Trattoria Romana restaurant and it was formally approved on 2
October. Jeff met with restaurant manager when the sprinoummer landscaping was completed at the restaurant site

and photos of the landscapes were taken. Jeff is working on the Award template and will purchase a frame.
Note for Follow-up: Jeff Ward will provide Kelly Kemp with'photos so the KMB website can be updated.
Litter Busters
No formal activities to report at this time. The program will start up again in January as School Street and Hope
Street need attention. -
Additional Projects/ Initiatives
• . On/Off Ramps —No activity to report.
• Adont-a=Highway - No activity to report.
• "No Litter Zone" Signs -No activity to report.
Miscellaneous Discussion Items
• Open KMB Committee Position —Neil Rhein informed the committee in October about the new
WasteReduction & Recycling Committee which has a URL that will be rolled out in Mansfield by end of
year. Kristy Brooks will be joining this new committee but will continueto participate in KMB meetings
and collaborate on future intersecting committee projects.
The KMB committee will welcome Patrick McCue as a new member in December.
Jeff Ward and Janice Wivagg were approved to retain their current KMB committee positions. ,
Committee members are required to re -apply for their committee position every 3 years.
• KMB Website & Social Media =At the October meeting, Neil Rhein expressed his desire to
relinquish his responsibilities for updating the KMB website. Kelly Kemp graciously offered to assume this
responsibility and take over other social media activities for the committee. Neil worked with Kelly on
,transitioning and provided guidance with website updates. Kelly is working on making updates and posts
to socialmedia sites.
The committee also discussed using PayPal, Venmo and Zelle as vehicles for KMB donation payments.
Ana Newell will reach out to Nancy Griffin regarding the use of these apps to learn if the Town of
Mansfield and KMB (as a non-profit organization) have the option to avoid paying fees to use these
services.
