Town of Mansfield
Board of Selectmen
Minutes of January 6, 2010
Present:
Vice Chairman Moran, Selectman Dentino, Selectman Sandra Levine, Nick
Riccio, Interim Town Manager
Absent:
Chairman Baldwin, Clerk Jess Aptowitz
Doug and Tate Shepard, Tom and Ben Yeransian are present for discussion. Tom spoke
briefly about the committee activities and future needs. The youth leaders are graduating
high school this year and the committee will need new members to continue the great
community service work the youth leaders have provided for the committee.
Recap of Committee history - 2 years ago the group formed. They made $12,000 the first
year and $7,500 this year. Unfortunately the event was weather dependent and we had
dismal weather conditions most weekends during October so the event did not make as
much as last year.
Mary Andrews and Chairman Sharon Baker of the Animal Welfare Committee were present
to accept donation from the Haunted Hallows committee.
Lou Andrews, Animal Shelter Building Committee, gave a construction update. They raised
$236k to date and have used $215k of it. The Animal Shelter is anticipated to be open
June 2011.
Michael Simonelli is taking over as Manager of Record from his mother. Mr. Simonelli has
assisted with management of the facility for many years so he has the experience
necessary to be the manager. He is also tips certified and is on premises 40+ hours.
Motion: To appoint Mr. Simonelli as the Manager of Record of Willowdale Golf Course.

Airport Commission interview
The Airport Commission and Airport Manager David Dineen were present for meeting.
The commission's 5 year plan was discussed and while the hangers look bad, as discussed
last week, they are structurally sound. They are slated to be replaced in 2014 so it is not
cost effective to repair them at this time. The hangers are old and the lease amounts
were reduced last year to compensate for that.
The commission also touched on fuel fees and the grants that they have received over the
year. The airport has purchased grounds keeping equipment with some of these funds.
Airport Manager Dineen stated the busiest week at the airport is the week of the TPC.
Golf players, instructors, celebrities and fans fly in and out all week and weekend.
Mr. Dineen stated he maintains the property to the best of his ability and they have a
great safety record with little complaints. He also praised the town depts. that he has
worked with. The town and the commission have been very responsive to the needs of the
airport and pilots that use the property.
Vehicle use - non union personnel
Gary Babin, Light Dept. Manager is present for discussion. However, the board is missing
two members so they will discuss vehicle use next meeting.
Dave Luca, is a new resident to Mansfield and would like to get involved in town.
He is interested in being on the Housing Board of Directors and saw that there was an
opening so he applied. He is also going to Suffix Law school in the evening for his law
degree.
The board welcomed him to town and thanked him for applying.
Motion: To appoint Mr. Luca to the BOD for a term to expire Jan 2013. (Levine/Dentino)
