3. Health Agent's Report
Flu Clinics - Seasonal and HI N 1: A seasonal flu clinic will be held at the
Holiday Inn, 31 Hampshire Street, on October 19,2009 from 10-12.
Scott told the board the H1N1 vaccine is not expected to arrive until mid November.
Mansfield will receive $9,000 -$9,500; the town could get up to $45,000 to administer
the HI N1 vaccine. The consortium is getting $940,000.00 from the CDC.
As soon as the H1N1 vaccine arrives, clinics will be set up for the schools. If
100-200 doses are received, each town would hold its own clinic; if 1000-5000
doses are received, a regional clinic would be done involving the towns covered
by the public health nurse. The regional clinic probably would be held at Gillette
Stadium in Foxboro. Groups to be done first are 6 months to 24 years old, 25-65
years of age who are at high risk and women who are pregnant. Anyone over 65 must
be a health care worker or a care giver for an infant less than 6 months old to receive
the vaccine.
Scott told the board a number of people have volunteered to help out with the clinics.
Request for a variance from the Food Code for Kyoto Japanese Steak House: Kyoto
Enterprise, Inc. dba Kyoto Japanese Steak House is requesting a variance for the exemption
of acidified rice - sushi rice. Sushi rice is used at room temperature and is susceptible to
Bacillu Cereus. An HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) plan has been
submitted; Scott has approved the submittal.
Mansfield Septic System Regulations Interpretation: Scott would like to follow Title 5
regulations for percolation tests. Under the old code, peres were done by digging a hole,
12x 18 inches, filling the hole with water to 12 inches, then timing the drop from 12 to 9 inches.
The first 3 inches had to permeate thru the soil in 30 minutes. The town's code says the next 3
inches had to permeate the soil in 1 hour, for a rate of 20 minutes per inch. Title 5 changed in
1995, allowing 60 minutes per inch percolation rate.
MOTION: Endorse, clarify the interpretation of regulations.
Wall/ Healey Passed 3-0.
4. Old Business
There has been no follow-up from Ken Wagner regarding fluoride in Mansfield's water
system.
5. Adjournment
MOTION: To Adjourn at 7:25 pm.
Healey/Wall Passed 3-0
Respectfully submitted,
Jane Doucette, Recording Secretary
