Original to Board of Health, 1 copy for Treasurer's Office and Applicant Revised October 1989 Revised March 1991 TOWN OF MANSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS 50 West Street, Mansfield, MA 02048 MEMORANDUM TO: Robert Swanson, Town Engineer/Director Department of Public Works FROM: Shaun Burke, Director of Planning and Development DATE: April 3, 1992 SUBJECT: Subdivision Drainage Issues: Tara Estates, Sturbridge Estates, Shannon Lane At the direction of the Mansfield Planning Board, I am respectfully requesting your assistance in analyzing drainage related issues in the above referenced areas. At a public hearing on the Tara Estates subdivision, held Wednesday, April 1, 1992, the Planning Board was informed by a number of abutters to the Sturbridge Estates and Tara Estates subdivisions that area residents are experiencing high groundwater related problems. It was a concern of some of the abutters that development of these adjacent parcels of land is effecting the groundwater elevations in the area and may be responsible for groundwater problems including wet basements and flooded yards in their neighborhood. After discussion of the issues with residents, the Planning Board directed me to request your assistance and the assistance of the Health Agent in ascertaining, to the best of the staff's ability, if the two subdivisions currently under construction may be the cause of the Shannon Lane groundwater problems. Please be advised that the Planning Board has continued the Tara Estates public hearing until April 15, 1992 at 7:30 P.M. The Board has requested that any information you may be able to provide be delivered to the Planning Department prior to April 15, 1992.
