Attendees: Lauren Scher, Linda Fernando, Ed Donoghue, Matt Jacques
Approval of Minutes
Facilities subcommittee minutes approved from November 4, 2021 (2-0)
New Business
• Update on boiler project
o Packet was submitted to MSBA in November; still under review
o Will need to assign a project manager and design consultant
o May become a Summer 2023 project due to timing and supply chain issues on materials
o Hope is to tie project into student learning: allowing those interested in engineering to
see how projects like these work from start to finish
• Building's update
o All in really good shape, systems are running well. Not nearly as many heat emergencies
as in year past. Kudos to Mark Parlon
o Today is the coldest day since 2019; Paul has been ensuring systems are working well;
utilizing outside vendors where needed
o No major building projects going on. Not seeing any major issues
o Ventilation questions: dampers are controlled and can open more / less depending on
how cold it is at MHS, QMS, JJ, Rob
RG: each class has an air purifier as back up if unable to open windows
• Custodial updates
o Offer extended at end of calendar year to a person who was very interested; was
supposed to start next week however candidate is not responding to calls
• Will start the process again
• Considering how to change the job posting to stand out more and different
modes of communication (i.e., text)
• Competing with other districts who are also hiring
• Seeing the same unqualified candidates over again
• Matt will send job description to Lauren/Linda who will post on social media
o Have had some Covid related absences and very hard to find subs
• Other
o Items on town energy project are all part of existing CIP 5-year plan
