Commissioner will make announcement on/around 10/30 regarding masking
requirements — rumored to want to keep masking (on 10/15, schools were able to attest
to 80% vax rates; only 4 schools did this)
• Teresa has been speaking with other districts — others are recommending they stay w
masking and revisit in Jan
o SC will need to make some decisions —vaccine rate, mask requirements, etc.
o Decision was made to do virtual conferences in the fall/winter; email will be sent out shortly
• Plans for MCAS presentation
o There are many ways to present MCAS findings and are working to determine what to focus on.
Mike will be meeting with the building principals to prepare the presentation.
o Lauren and Linda agreed that it isn't necessary to go into the weeds of each data point, but it is
important to provide context and comparisons (consider to the state and to DART schools).
o Will be important to make it clear that MCAS scores are just one data point/tool and to discuss
this in the context of broader efforts in monitoring progress and supporting student growth.
