PayPal donations (not yet reflected in Mansfield Bank balance, some fees will be taken out):
• $100 - Crockett Family
• $20 - Greg Seiler
• $50 - Annie Schwehm
Fundraisine - Jeff
• Need to get out the fundraising letter for this year. Jeff and Neil will create the letter; Mike M. to
create the labels; and Janice and Nancy to stuff the letters and mail.
• Letter will be copied by Allegra.
• We will receive pre -paid postage envelopes from Town Hall.
• In the letter, focus on the fall cleanup and the upcoming spring cleanup. Stress that due to
COVID-19, the spring cleanup will be done like the fall cleanup, which is to encourage people to
cleanup over the course of multiple weeks instead of on one day. Indicate recognition for
- § donations will be done via social media (Facebook and on our website) and donations from
2020 and 2021 will be listed on 2022 spring cleanup t-shirts.
• Discussed creating a banner for 2022 cleanup to be hung at Town Hall with all donations
recognized.
Sprine Cleanup - All
• The cleanup will begin on Saturday, April 10tn and run until Sunday, May 2nd. Volunteers are
encouraged to go out anytime that is convenient for them during this timeframe.
• Precinct Leaders and Community Group Leader will coordinate cleanup spots and provide trash
bags and grabbers.
• Neil will send along the signups.
• Need to coordinate picking up the trash with DPW.
• Cable News taped Cristina Lydon, a high school student, who talked about the cleanup and how
to sign up.
Flower Barrels - Nancy, Mike, and Pat
• There are 99 barrels on North Main Street filled with pansies. We have additional barrels and
plants so we might add more barrels over the course of the next week.
• The pansies should last until the middle of June.
Painted Barrels - Pat
• We need to do an inventory of the painted barrels. Some of them need to be retired.
• We need to come up with a list of where barrels are needed, like hiking trails, etc.
• We have 15-20 barrels at the DPW site on Fruit Street that need to be painted before giving
them out to be painted. We need buy the paint (white, green, and black) and coordinate a day
for us to paint them. This will be done in May/June when the weather is good.
• We also need to make sure all the painted barrels have lids on them. Besides making the barrel
look more attractive, the lids also prevent household trash and rainwater from entering the
barrels.
• We currently have 2 barrels that are being painted by a Girl Scout troop and Boy Scout troop.
Adopt -a -Snot - Martha and Ana
• Martha sent out the spring reminder with a deadline of April 24u.
To adopt -a -spot, DPW needs to approve the site, the participant needs to submit a design plan,
and the Town of Mansfield needs to approve the site/plan. This might deter volunteers from
participating, but it is necessary in order guarantee sites are properly created and maintained.
• Lee Tighe and her 561 grade class will plant perennials and maintain the garden at the
Superintendent's office. Her class will also maintain the J/J garden.
The area around the West Mansfield Village sign needs to be beautified. Mike H. and Ricky will
cleanup this site.
• The trees at the Route 106 embankment have been pruned.
• Neil has met with the Town Manager to discuss further improvements for the entrance to the
town.
• The sign at the Verizon garden has been changed from The Dodd Family to Stephanie Hooper.
Adopt -a -Street - Jeff
• Jeff and Neil continue to finalize this new website. They want it to be user friendly and
automatically send a notification when someone has adopted an area. Anyone who signs up
will receive a bag of supplies (trash bags, grabber, recycle bag, t-shirt, etc.) delivered to their
house.
Cigarette Buckets - Neil
• There is a need for cigarette buckets at Fulton Pond and behind Jimmys Pub.
• For cigarette buckets to be installed, DPW would need to find a secure location for them and be
responsible for emptying them. Without DPW taking on this responsibility, this project should
not be done since maintenance is critical for its success.
• There is a Downtown committee meeting on May 20th, and this will be discussed.
We Noticed - All
• All members were encouraged to nominate potential We Noticed locations at our next meeting.
Miscellaneous - All
• Our storage unit contains 250 trash bags,100 reusable bags, and our tent used for Family Fun
Night. Neil needs to order more Anti -litter signs.
• The fence in front on Erin Corner is filled with trash again. The owner needs to be contacted.
• Mike M. said we need to renew our website domain since it will expire in June. Mike H. will
reach out to Neil.
• The area next to Flynn's restaurant needs to be beautified as it is very overgrown. It might be
private property. Jeff will discuss this site with the Flynn's manager. Also, the business sign in
the parking lot needs to be beautified and maintained.
Next Meeting is Thursday, May 27th. Time is TBA.
