We will receive pre -paid postage envelopes from Town Hall. The selling of our reusable bags went well again at Shaws & Stop & Shop, with $123.00 raised. Thank you, Ana, for coordinating this effort! Spring Cleanup - All The spring cleanup went very well with the major areas being cleaned up over the course of 3 weeks. All precinct leaders told Pat the locations of the trash bags. Then, twice a week, Pat reported the number of bags and location to DPW for them to pick up. Mike Healey also picked up some bags if there was a small number and not enough for DPW to make a special trip. Flower Barrels - Nancy, Mike, and Pat In the middle of June, we will remove the pansies and plant the pink angel begonias. The pansies did very well this year! We allocated $38 for Janice to purchase new flags for the barrels. We want the flags in the barrels for the 4th of July. Janice will then take them out a couple of weeks afterwards. Painted Barrels - Pat • Pat needs to do an inventory of the painted barrels since many of them, especially at Memorial Park, need to be retired. • The 2 barrels painted by the Girl Scout Troop and boy scout troop have been placed. One is at Fultons Pond and the other one is at Memorial Park. e Mike H. needs to be reimbursed for the barrels he purchased. • Mike is going to prime the 14 barrels we have at the Fruit Street DPW site. Adopt -a -Spot - Martha and Ana • Mike H. and Ricky cleaned up the area around the West Mansfield Village sign. • Ana is working on a new West Mansfield Village Business sign. This project will be like what Ana did for the East Mansfield Business sign. This will involve soliciting businesses to fund the Nancy discussed a collaboration project with the Cultural Council to paint 5 postal drop off boxes. After they are painted, there would be a scavenger hunt to identify the location of these boxes. • The Downtown Committee is discussing having historical art sculptures along the bike path. Wheaton College already has an existing program like this so perhaps they will have the college students do this. The committee is also looking into expanding the Harry Chase Place by including a train structure, bocce court, chin up bars, climbing structure, water feature, etc. Next Meeting is in September - TBA Meeting adjourned at 8:55 Minutes approved on:_ at Secretary signature: sign, creating a design, working with the sign vendor, and working with DPW to remove the old sign and install the new one. • Stephanie Hooper is doing a great job maintaining her downtown site at the island in front of Verizon • We need a new sign at the Bike Path since Village Green Landscaping has taken over Simora Landscaping. • Lee Tighe, who maintains the garden at the Superintendent's building, reported that the irrigation system is not working properly. Jay Beckett has been notified to fix it. • Lance Buick has a new owner and the site outside their building needs mowing and weeding. Martha will contact Tracey to see if the town will take care of this area. • The Route 106 embankment needs to be weeded. Martha will reach out to Kyle at Guerrini who maintains this site. • The embankment by the train station needs attention. We need to look into getting money to make sure this area is properly maintained. Adopt -a -Street - Jeff • Jeff and Neil continue to finalize this new website. They want it to be user friendly and automatically send a notification when someone has adopted an area. Anyone who signs up will receive a bag of supplies (trash bags, grabber, recycle bag, t-shirt, etc.) delivered to their house. • Pat and Cathy tried signing up and reported some issues to Jeff. Jeff said some of the issues are due to the software limitations. Cigarette Buckets - Neil • There is a need for cigarette buckets at Fulton Pond and behind Jimmy's Pub. Neil is going to follow up with the Town Manager. We Noticed - All • Pat mentioned that Mansfield Meadows at the end of Stearns Avenue has done a beautiful job with their perennial garden. Family Fun Night - All • Pat will coordinate Family Fun Night being held on Tuesday, July 13th. • Normally we commission Kristy Johnson to paint a barrel for us to have signed at Family Fun Night, but Marilyn Healey will paint two patriotic barrels this year! One barrel will be placed at the Veteran's site next to South Common and the other one at the Corporal Hardy Conservation Area. Adopt -a -Highway - Neil We have the authority to cleanup Route 140, except the medium strip and on/off ramps. We are hoping to setup monthly KMB cleanups to take care of these areas. Neil also has some companies that might be interested in cleaning up these areas. The on/off ramps continue to be an issue. We need someone to volunteer to head up this effort. In the past, Jason had reached out to the Bristol County office to get these areas cleaned up. Miscellaneous - All Neil needs to order more Anti -litter signs. We would like to do something for Jason for all his service over the years. We will talk about this at our next meeting. Neil reported that there is no Fall Festival this year due to COVID-19.
