MEETING SUMMARY HASSACHUSETTS
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM in the conference room located in the
Mansfield Electric Department. The members present included Jay Barrows, Dennis
Grady, Tom Prestwich, and Ian MacDonald. Also present were Chris Marion - Assistant
to the Town Manager and John Larch - Electric Department Manager. Not present were
Karl Clemmey, Chris Trombetta, Jack Vultaggio and William F. Williams - Town
Manager,
1. Meeting Summary
Jay Barrows moved to accept the 4/29/96 Meeting Summary (Second - Dennis Grady).
2. New Business
A. Chris Marion distributed the Industrial Park letters to the IDC members for their
signatures. Once the letters are sent to the businesses, each IDC representative should
follow up with a phone call and attempt to complete the surveys. Once the surveys are
completed and major issues are identified we can compile a report and present it to the
Town Manager / Board of Selectmen for action.
B. Chris Marion reported to the IDC members that the Belknap -White Group from
Rhode Island is moving into the Nissan building.
Mr. Marion also distributed copies of the Adult Entertainment Bylaw which will be
proposed at Town Meeting.
The IDC members discussed power quality, recent complaints, and the letter from Stomel
& Sons (8/22/96). They agreed that a joint meeting with the Light Commissioners, IDC
and the Industrial Park is an excellent idea. John Larch will notify the IDC of possible
dates after the next Light Commissioners meeting.
C. The IDC also agreed to set up meetings with Ken Kreutziger, Master Plan Consultant,
(October) and Raymond T. Mancini from Belknap -White (November or December).
D. The IDC briefly discussed the possibility of a Mansfield Web Site. Chris Marion
provided the members with (1) an article from the Sun Chronicle on Norton, (2) a
proposal from Mr. Andrew Parvey and (3) pages from the Providence, RI home page,
from Chris Trombetta.

3. Around The Table
A. Tom Prestwich suggested that the IDC take a more aggressive approach to marketing
which would include calling up businesses and asking them to come to Mansfield. He said
a business like the Residence Inn, which needs water and sewer, would be a prime
candidate for a phone call.
B. Jay Barrows said that the IDC could also advertise in the Boston Globe or get Channel
5 to do a television piece on Mansfield.
C. Tom Prestwich also urged the IDC to prepare a flyer for distribution at Town
Meeting. Chris Marion asked Tom to fax him an outline and told the members that he
would put something together.
D. Jay Barrows informed the IDC that the downtown is developing and businesses are
coming to Mansfield. Ian MacDonald added that the downtown apartments are also filling
up.
4. Next Meetine
The IDC members agreed that the next meeting would be in September, date T.B.A.
5. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM.
