Jay Barrows indicated that he had asked John D'Agostino, Town Manager, to have Dick Lewis, Town Conversation Agent, walk the Gilbert Street property to determine how much is wetlands, etc. This way, all parties could get a more accurate assessment of how much development could realistically be done on the property, whether it remained zoned I-2 or was changed to R-1, as proposed by the Planning Board. The IDC heard from Ingolf Matthee, representative of Dyckerhoff, USA, owners of the ISPO property on Branch Street. Mr. Mathee indicated that ISPO (Dyckerhoff) was against the proposed zoning change for their property and that owned by Compo Chemical located on Branch Street. On the ISPO property, Mr. Mathee indicated that the clean up of toluene in the soil is still underway and is slated to be completed early in 2001. This clean-up of the ISPO property is being funded by Compo Chemical Co. At the time the property clean-up is completed, it is ISPO's intention to sell the property. ISPO is very much against changing the zoning of the property to "Residential" and, in fact, would put a covenant on the property as part of any Purchase and Sales Agreement that the property can not be used for residential development. The IDC thanked Mr. Mathee for appearing before us and indicated that we would invite representatives of Compo Chemical Co. to our next meeting. Proposed Zoning Changes for May 15 2000 Town Meeting The IDC discussed each of the proposed Planning Board articles for the 5/15/2000 Town Meeting. We voted to take the following positions on each Article: Article 52—Off-Street Parking & Loading The IDC is AGAINST this article. Article 53—Amending the front setback and height limitations in the B-3 Zone The IDC is AGAINST this article. Article 54—Clarification of 75' setbacks when business or industrial uses are within 75' of residential use or residential zone line The IDC is FOR this Article. o.
