Mr. Burke explained the correspondence from MaDOT indicates no opposition, but not explicit
approval of the proposal to allow the hotel at 50 ReservoirfSt eet to open before the traffic signal
is installed and activated.
Mr. Crugnale said he has all of the equipment except the mast arms; the estimated delivery date
for those items is between July 7-15, 2021. He said he is looking for a certificate of occupancy
for June 6, 2021, then Marriott staff will come in for three weeks before the soft opening.
Consensus of the board members present was that Mr. Crugnale has done everything he can to
make this happen and they are confident the traffic signal work will be completed as soon as
possible.
Motion: To approve a field/modification to the October 18, 2018 special permit for 50
Reservoir Street to allow; the Marriott hotel to open on June 6, 2021, if allowed by the Inspector
of Buildings/Zoning Enforcement Officer, without the traffic signal installed and operational.
The traffic signal shall be installed and operational by July 31, 2021; if it is not, the board will
reassess the possible need for police details. (Cerretani-Bren)

Ms. Friedman asked about 1 Mansfield Avenue being sold and the appeal. Mr. Burke said he has
spoken with Attorney Kawamoto, who told him she doesn't know whether the new owner will
continue the appeal or drop it.

Mr. Burke said he has heard from a brewery interested in commercial space in the Chocolate
Factory or vacant town -owned property.

The board asked Mr. Burke to invite Mr. Horowitz to a mutually convenient meeting.
