Memorial Park Field- Annual Dance Recital; Sunday, June 20, 8:OOa-6:OOp
-Sherri Gumon asked the Recreation Commission to decide on what to charge Ms. Nolan
for the use of Memorial Park Field as this is a revenue request. Normally, the fee is $70
for each 2-hour block. The performance is 10a-4p, but she asked to come early to set and
stay later to take down. Ed Westhaver felt there wouldn't be a lot of field damage as the
dance school is staggering their performances to limit crowds. Mr. Westhaver felt they
were really only using the field for six hours. Therefore, it would be the $70 x 3 blocks,
which comes to $210. However, Mr. Westhaver asked the RecComm if they felt that was
too much. Linda McCabe stated that they do charge for tickets and felt the $210 charge
was reasonable.
Motion: By Mike Weber to approve the request of the field reservation with a fee of
$210. Seconded by Chris Leard:
Motion passes, 5-0.
5. Old Business:
-Sherri Gurnon updated the Recreation Commission on the Plymouth Street Playground. On
March 25, 2021, Mitch Bregnard, Sherri Gurnon and the Playground Planner, Craig Miller,
attended a CIP meeting to discuss the playground. There was talk of moving the
playground or if the playground could be put up for less money. Mr. Miller felt our price for
the playground was reasonable. The CIP voted to have us move forward on the playground.
The old equipment was taken down on March 22.
-Sherri Gumon informed the Commission that there is no update on a Program Room.
6. New Business:
-Ms. Gumon informed the Recreation Commission that the Spring and Summer Programs are
registering as of March 1. New this year is the ability for people to register and pay for
programs online. There is Little Kicks, Summer Camp, Spring and Summer Tennis Lessons,
Women's Pickup Tennis, Men's and Women's Soccer and Mary Sellner will continue her
"A Story in Motion" program and may move it outside as the weather improves.
-Sherri Gumon stated that the department is currently looking for Summer Camp Counselors.
There have been two applications at this time. Interviews will start the end of April.
-Ms. Gumon announced that the March New Year's Photo Challenge pictures are up for the
Recreation Commission to vote on. The April site for photos is Plymouth Street Facility.
-Due to Town Meeting being the same night as the next Recreation Commission Meeting, the
May 24 meeting is cancelled. The May and June meeting will be combined on June 7, 2021.
-Sherri Gumon announced that one item not on the agenda is the Fishing Derby. Since
Governor has opened the outdoor gatherings to 150, we can now do the Fishing Derby. It will
be May 8, 8a-noon. Ms. Gumon asked for volunteers for the derby. All five of the
Commissioners volunteered to help.
