Dear Mr. Clemmey:
JAMES W CLARKIN
ATTORNEY•AT•LAW
257 NORTH MAIN STREET
FALL RIVER. MASS,

I am currently involved with Hathaway -Patterson in scheduling a full
scale clean-up of the area behind your facility and bordered by the
Rumford.River on one side and the railroad tracks on the other.
As was reported by the Mansfield News, I found the ground water at the
above referenced lot to be contamindated with some type of oil, and in
several places the soil itself is saturated with oil.
A large portion of the area is littered with old oil tanks, large pieces
of scrap metal and numerous 55 gallon drums that contain the residue of a
thick black tar substance. It is obvious that most of this material is a
by-product of your operation and I hope that we could work out an arrange-
ment without getting the Department of Environmental Engineering involved.
I boos to be working closely with you on this matter and if I can be of any
assistance, please do not hesitate to call me at 339-5021.
Sincerely, p
Walter F. Walsh,
Inspector of Public Health
Hazardous Waste Coordinator
