On March 1, 1984 1 visited the home of Mr. Larry Mahoney at 50 Hope Street
to investigate a drainage problem. He reported that the surface water
puddled on neighboring land was raising the groundwater such that he was
experiencing water in his basement and a backed up septic system. Upon
viewing the site and discussing the history of the house, I suspect that
the surface water was causing his wet basement but that the failure of
his septic system is probably due to its age (it is 19 years old) and
undersizing.
I'm requesting, with the owner's knowledge that you visit the site to de-
termine what measures can be taken to solve his septic system problem.
