Town Manager Kevin Dumas indicated that it was likely that we would receive a 10% cut in State Aid. We are asking all town departments to cut their budget numbers by this amount. We understand this is a tough situation. Discussion was held regarding the 10% cuts. Is that enough of a cut? There are so many unknowns right now. The state is leaning toward 10% so we will start with that but all should be prepared to make further cuts if needed. The Town Manager indicated that each department could make deeper cuts if they choose. There are three options to consider prior to town meeting 10, 15 or 20%. A motion was requested to approve a 10% cut in the overall budget proposal which is a $3.7 million dollar cut.
