indicate that we will have
approximately $15,600 to
award including the amounts
we allocate for administrative
costs (5%) and (15%) a Local
Cultural Council project as
recommended by the Mass
Cultural Council.
State expected: $9,100;
Town expected: $6,500,
State existing: $3,499.
We received 30 grant
proposal requests totaling
$20,315.
Motion made by Sharon;
seconded by Kelly to approve
the Treasurer's Report.
Recognition of Service of Jackie Curtis's six years of
Jackie Curtis service to the Cultural
Council and to the Town of
Mansfield was recognized.
Jackie's term ended on
December 31,2020, after
serving 2, 3-year terms.
Since we did not have a
December meeting, we were
not able to thank her for her
service at the meeting.
Eileen will send thank you
notes to all members whose
terms expired in 2020.
Grant Review Process
This year the Council
received 30 grant
applications. Council
members read the
applications and completed
the Score Sheet for
Evaluating Grants form. The
Score Sheet included 4 major
areas: (1) Quality, Originality,
and Creativity; (2) Community
Benefit; (3) Planning; and (4)
Budget. The Score Sheet
specifically addressed two
recommendations from our
Community Input Survey; (1)
Could it be presented in such
a way as to support a
historical or multicultural
festival or event as a goal of
our 2020 CIS? (2) Does it
help fulfill the community goal
of promoting racial equity and
social justice, a goal of the
2020 CIS?
Grant Discussion
Nine grants were discussed.
Voting on approval of
individual grants will take
place upon completion of a
review of all grants and
pending funding allocations.
The first order of business at
the January 21 meeting will
be to review any clarifications
on the 9 grants prior to
moving on to our next 10
grants.
