The open meeting session was called to order by Chair Kiera O'Neil at 7:01 pm.:!'- Members Present: Administration Present: Kiera O'Neil Teresa Murphy, Superintendent of Schools Lynn Cavicchi Michael Connolly, Assistant Superintendent(Teaching/Learning) Linda Fernando Edward Donoghue, Assistant Superintendent (Finance/Operations) Lauren Scher Jenn Walsh Members Absent: ***All votes taken by roll call vote *** Roll Call Vote: Kiera O'Neil aye Lynn Cavicchi aye Jenn Walsh aye Linda Fernando aye Lauren Scher aye Public Speak: Public Speak is open for 15 minutes for anyone who has registered via GoToWebinar. NONE Communications: We received 2 emails this week. One from a parent who cited an article indicting the spread of COVID in schools is low and we need to get the kids back. The other from a parent of a staff member who was very concerned with the safety protocols in place and the return to school plan. Administrative Reports: Superintendent Murphy: Ms. Murphy met in person with three Robinson staff members to discuss the content of their letter requesting school is 5 days per week 1/2 days. No change can be done immediately but research will be done to see if there is any feasibility. The staff appreciated the plan to review understanding that no change could be done right away. The district is seeking individuals who are willing to become substitute teachers and para professionals. Thank you to the Mansfield Greek Orthodox Church who donated a tremendous batch of supplies for our schools. We are so appreciative of their continued support. The Select Board has officially designated Friday October 16th as Green Hornet Day in Mansfield to celebrate the 75th birthday of our school mascot. Thank you to the Historical Society and the individuals who researched and put the information together. A reminder that bus capacity is set at 23 with some buses allowed more students if siblings are sitting together. Masks must be worn. Extra's are available for those that forget or break them. Seating is assigned. Please be aware that we will be fine tuning changes over the next few days. The school drop-off procedures have been changed to allow for social distancing. Each school has reviewed the procedures with staff. Kiera O'Neil emphasized the need to communicate this information out to parents. It is very late in the process and parents are nervous. Kiera O'Neil asked how the parking is assigned at the high school. Two seniors (Cohort A/B) will share a spot. Unassigned spots near the lacrosse wall will be for Juniors. No assigned spots for the first two days. Again, Kiera reminded all that communication is critical. Approval of Minutes: Table Old Business: Committee Updates: Audit: The next meeting will be held on October 29th. CIP: Met last Thursday to discuss the capital improvements for fall Town Meeting Budget: No update Facilities: No update Policy: Will meet next Thursday. Return to Hybrid: Need to schedule. New Business: Consideration of MEA Return to School MOU: Chair O'Neil reviewed the MOU which contains 31 points to be considered for the return to school. These changes were reviewed at the last meeting. Discussion: Linda Fernando requested that the Instructional Technology Coach be removed from the chart because other departments do not drill down to that level of detail. Change will be made.
