Discuss transition with Health Officials o Agreed there should be a metrics checklist and communication out (could be used internally or externally) o Christine/Justin explained tracking in cases in areas around Mansfield (incl Norton, Taunton) o What is the action if Mansfield turns "red" o Need very clear metrics and maybe some analytical metrics o Amy: are we worried about the #s changing or is it wans happens if a case is in school (it's both) o Goal is to minimize risk and plan for the first case —What is our comms strategy? o Christine: one is in place including letters to parents, have a tracking system, been training staff o Justin: we can focus on % positive cases as an indicator but not the sole metric to determine next step o If more than one case in school tracing/tracking discussion need to be had and discuss w DESE • Need to understand if cases are a result of school spread or outside (i.e. a nursing home in town which would have no impact on the schools) • Contract tracing —go back 2 days from when symptoms began then know when/who to quarantine (Wednesday's off is very helpful from a tracking piece) — contagious when symptomatic o At what point does school need to quarantine? o When there's much community spread and can't do contract tracing o Christine: there is not a definite number because of many factors but we'll know via contact tracing and if there are cases the DPH will assign and epidemiologist o Perhaps multiple indicators the needed when factoring in next steps FF!CE S tr o Need to have clear communication with parent. If X happens, then these are the steps we'll take o Constantly monitoring o Different indicators of positivity rates o If positivity rate goes above x, will trigger a conversation (consider things such as community spread, # of cases in school, etc.) o Next steps: o Consider what the correct metrics are and comeback to this group (Christine, Amy, Justin) Next meeting date: September 25" at 8:30am Respectfully submitted, Linda Fernando School Committee
