A meeting of the Mansfield School Committee Return to Hybrid Subcommittee wasppened and
called to order at 7:36 am.
SC Members Present: Linda Fernando
Lauren Scher
Others Present: Teresa Murphy, Superintendent
Michael Connolly, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations
New Business:
This is the first meeting of this subcommittee so the meeting began by discussing committee goals
and expectations. Lauren Scher and Linda Fernando offered the following thoughts: Oversee
details of the return to hybrid model and report back to the School Committee; help track all of the
details required to open schools; offer ideas on communication to parents; devise metrics for
returning to school. Ultimately, the committee is looking to offer whatever help is needed to make
sure we successfully transition to Hybrid in October.
Superintendent Murphy and Assistant Superintendent Connolly offered their view points on what
we have accomplished and where we currently stand. It was noted that Friday night additional
DESE guidance was released which forces us to rethink our hybrid capabilities yet again. We need
to be careful how often we put out information to the public because there are a lot of things still
changing. We risk confusion when we publically have to change direction. The district does
understand, however, that there is a tremendous need for us to keep parents informed.
To summarize, the subcommittee felt that it would be best to start by focusing on
• Increased communication between the district and the school committee
• Identify and communicate Metrics that will need to be met in order to phase into the
Hybrid Model
