NONE Communications: NONE Administrative Reports: Superintendent Teresa Murphy provided an update. The district does not yet have answers on back to school plans for the fall. We are still waiting for detailed guidance from DESE. Based on the most recent guidance we are reviewing the feasibility of returning with a 3 feet distance between desks. Guidance for transportation was expected this week but has been delayed. Additionally we have our own Mansfield work groups that have been reviewing all facets of return (food services, transportation, social emotional needs, delivery of education, physical building needs.) On July 13, we will start the extended year program for some students with disabilities. The special education administrators have been working diligently to assure that everything will be ready. Assistant Superintendent Michael Connolly provided an update on the Return to Learning Task Force. There are three models under discussion: a) Remote only b) Regular opening with safety guidelines and c) Hybrid which is a mix of both. So far, the task force has completed a review on what went well or poorly in the spring. They have set guiding principles and are pouring over frequent DESE guideline updates. They have discussed options with other districts. The goal is to provide a proposed plan to the Superintendent in late July. Page 2 of 8 Approved 11-10-20 Mansfield School Committee Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, July 07, 2020 Virtual Meeting using GoToWebinar Questions / Answers: What is the deadline to deliver a plan to DESE? August, but we cannot track down the specific due date. Is there a defined format for submission? None has been provided. Districts have been sharing ideas but we don't know what format to use. Kiera O'Neil noted that no matter what happens there are going to be happy people, unhappy people and a few in between. Was the teaching staff surveyed along with families? Yes, right before school ended we reached out to staff. Does the hybrid model allow us to have fluid movement between in school and remote as needed? That is something we continue to review.
