Select Board Member's Comments and Questions Mr. Schoonveld asked about the Nelson Nyggard parking regulation concerns that Ms. Sharon Friedman had about parking on both sides of the street that could cause public safety vehicles an inability to get down the streets in her neighborhood. Mr. Dumas answered that he has a site visit with the public safety Chiefs tomorrow. He asked about the stickers on the front windshields and if it was vetted property and Mr. Dumas answered it had. He then asked Select Board Meeting Minutes December 2, 2020 about registrations for the MMA Conference. Mr. Schoonveld then commented on the Plymouth Street playground and the need for the equipment to be removed because it is a hazard. Mr. Schoonveld then thanked Kathleen Aguiar for her time on the Finance Committee and hopes that that she is able to come back as a Board/Committee member in the future. Mr. Trowbridge had a lot of people ask him about the placement of the sticker as Mr. Schoonveld had mentioned. He stated that they have been on back passenger window for 25 years and asked what the necessity was to have the location changed. Mr. Schoonveld stated that the back windshield is dark and its hard to see for the Mansfield Green employees and it was vetted by the Town Manager. Mr. Trowbridge understood why some people would not want the sticker on the front window because it is distracting and he does not like stickers. Mr. Aptowitz commented that he spoke to George Pantos regarding paving the trash pads for the dumpster and stone walls around them and was concerned if the trash trucks knock them down and whose responsibility it will be to maintain them. Mr. Dumas answered that stated that the Downtown Committee discussed this and had the dumpster company come to make sure it was going to work and it was an effort to make that area look clean. Mr. Aptowitz then stated that the article in paper regarding the average tax bill on a single-family house in Mansfield is going to be $7,500 a year. He was concerned if the spending pace is going to continue to increase the average tax bill will be $9,000 for an average home in a couple years. Mr. Schoonveld agreed with Mr. Aptowitz and that we need to figure out how to broaden the commercial base. Mr. Rhein thanked Kevin for his help in taking time and taking over the maintenance the plantings at the Train Station so that a better job can be done maintaining that area. Mr. Rhein then commented that he saw an article that Plainville had to postpone their town meeting due to COVID and offered kudos to Mansfield for those involved in getting our Town Meeting done. Lastly, Mr. Rhein suggested extending invitations to get the Board and Committees in to the Select Board meetings for updates. Chairman DelVecchio thanked Kathleen Aguiar for her service and commented that he appreciated her because she asked great questions and was never on a soap box and was very efficient with her words. He then commented that the Boston Globe reported tonight that there are 4,613 new confirmed COVID cases and 46 new deaths in one day.
