(Lavin - Lazzara) 5 - 0 Passes Finance Committee Workshop Mr. Gazzolo brought up that Ms. Levine requested that the Finance Committee and the Selectmen have a workshop on August 13; the purpose of the workshop would be to explain what the Finance Committee does and how they calculate and project with the information they have. Mr. Gazzolo and Mr. Lazzara plan to put some information together on this to discuss with the Finance Committee prior to presenting it to the Selectmen. Mr. Ratliff suggested that the Finance Committee put something in writing so that it can be used in the future. Mr. Gazzolo felt that the Finance Committee has been used in different capacities by the past Selectmen. Five/Ten Year Forecast Mr. Gazzolo brought up Mr. Lazzara's meeting from that morning a bout the 5/10 year forecast for the town. Mr. Lazzara said that it was discussed how to merge the school and town contracts over the next few years. He said that it was decided to look at the trends in town over the last ten years and then look at more recent deviations from there to determine where the projections should be. He said that he is planning to spend a few weeks going over the information and then plans to sit down with representatives from the town and the schools to discuss information found. Mr. Ratliff brought up that consultants to the town said that the town should be focusing on more regional projects, particularly with Foxboro. Discussion Mr. Gazzolo requested that Ms. Lavin provide the Finance Committee with updated information from CIP within two weeks. Mr. Gazzolo said that he received information on how to change the charter and he is going to pass this information along to Mr. Arnold. He said that the Finance Committee needs to determine how much money is available for negotiations. The Finance Committee went through the schedule from last year about who worked on various projects. This will need to be decided in the near future. Mr. Gazzolo requested that the Finance Committee receive an update from the Board of Selectmen on the status of the commission for the new town accountant. Mr. Gazzolo brought up the new substation to the light department and how it would be good to have a committee look into this. Mr. Gazzolo said that he received a phone call from a citizen about other boards discussing financial issues without notifying the Finance Committee. Mr. Lazzara suggested that the Finance Committee ,. request advance notice from other committees when these meetings will be happening so that the Finance Committee can attempt to have representation there.
