Discussion postponed to next week. As there was a budget meeting last night and the school committee was not ready with their piece of the budget proposal Mr. D'Agostino only gave a brief update of last nights discussion. Selectman Dentino stated that he was under the impression that they weren't going to meet as the school committee wasn't ready. The other board members stated that was not the case and they all were there. A short disagreement of the facts ensued and Selectman Baldwin reprimanded Selectman Dentino for talking down to her and the other members. She further stated that if he communicated with the rest of the members he would have known and been there last night. MB Bill Moore, Chairman was present and asked that the board not completely eliminate the secretary position. They are still an active group meeting once a month and require staff assistance. The secretary keeps the committee informed of incoming information and takes minutes of their meetings. Current projects include the modular work at the High School, the highway dept. garage and other CIP priorities. Board of Selectmen Minutes of April 23, 2008 1 Chairman Amoruso asked how many hours the secretary works. Mr. D'Agostino stated that she currently works 13 hours a week. Selectman Dentino stated that he expected the committee to come and request that the secretary not be cut. He further stated that current MBC work is minimal and he does not see the value in retaining a staff position at this time. Mr. D'Agostino also feels that the secretary position is important to the work of the committee and should not be eliminated. Selectman Levine would like to keep the money for a secretary in the budget and not use it until needed. If it goes unused the funds will be returned to the general fund. Ken Butler, MMAS Chair. MTBA assessments are required to be in general fund line items. · Review of line item reductions and contractual increases. · Two Thursday night FinComm meetings with dept. heads are scheduled instead of the all day Saturday schedule.
