Mr. Rhein says they did make adjustments to the form and initiated reviewing nominations with redacted information. He
says the volume isn't as good as the last time around. He asks if they want to extend the deadline to obtain more
nominations. Lt. Bain asks what the timeline would be. Mr. Rhein says ideally they would present the awards before
Thanksgiving.
Lt. Bain says they did lay down the rules and certain people did follow the rules. Ms. Griffin says that one application is
for two people so not everyone followed the rules. Mr. Rhein says it should clarify a single citizen of Mansfield and
verifies it does. Ms. Griffin asks if it should be brought up at the Special Town Meeting tomorrow night. She says there'll
be a minimum of 200 people at the Town Meeting and it will be broadcast as well. Mr. Rhein says that those who've
already applied could be upset that they're reopening nominations.
Mr. George clarifies there were no youth submissions but rather an adult submission on an old youth submission form.
Mr. Rhein mentions that he was late to start advertising the nomination period. Ms. Murphy asks if that's a good enough
reason for them to re -open nominations. Ms. Kimmel says she's not sure if it's fair to the people who turned in their forms
on time.
Ms. Griffin asks which category for the one labeled L2 and A3 is in. Mr. George says it's at the discretion of the
Committee. Mr. Rhein verifies one nomination form lists two people and that will need to be disqualified.
Mr. Rhein says he's inclined to extend the deadline because he feels the Town can do better. Ms. Murphy says, since it's
only the second year, that they need to make it as public as possible for residents to know the timetables for future years.
Mr. Rhein says there were great nominations last year and asks why they wouldn't be resubmitted this year. Ms. Griffin
asks if it was made clear that they could resubmit.
Ms. Kimmel says it's just a question of how to get the word out. Mr. Rhein says they didn't utilize the newspaper. Ms.
Murphy says that the committee likes the idea of a holiday season award ceremony. She says the Select Board meets on
the 14 and the 18`h of December. She verifies there are no religious holidays on those dates. Mr. Rhein suggests making
November 29" the deadline.
*Motion to extend the nomination period for this year to November 29, 2019 made by Ms. Murphy, 2"d by

Ms. Griffin asks when the next meeting will be. The Committee decides on December 9, 2019 for the next meeting.
Lt. Bain asks if they could contact the past winners and ask them to nominate someone new. He says this would create a
perpetual cycle of new nominations.
